No, I understand that brides have many expenses, so I only ask for a 50% deposit before creating your veil. The remaining balance is due before shipping. You have the option to pay in full or split the payment as you prefer. All ceremony veil orders are processed via email to ensure I have your details and we maintain clear communication.
How will my veil be packaged?
Each veil now comes with a luxe complimentary satin drawstring bag for you to store your veil in post wedding or bridal event. It is then placed in a box to protect it in transit and then into a water-resistant mailer bag. All veils are dispatched with our trusted shipping provider, Australia Post tracking updates will be sent to your email. Shipping is an additional cost.
Why are your prices more affordable?
I started velo because I knew I could provide a quality veil for a lot less of the cost than many brides are paying in bridal boutiques.
The reason I can do this is because all the veils are made by myself from my studio, so overheads are lower.
I also feel strongly that anything bridal these days is inflated so I want to try fill that ‘gap’ and take pressure off brides.
I am also a small business owner who has only just started in the industry so being more affordable is essential for growth.
Who creates the veils?
I handcrafted each veil in my studio. This allows me to offer more affordable prices while providing a personalized and bespoke experience for brides, as opposed to a mass-produced or low-quality product. Each veil is custom-made to order.
What makes a velo veil high quality?
All veils are entirely handcrafted by me, from beginning to end. Each veil is crafted using premium soft tulle, which offers both strength and sheerness.
It has a buttery soft texture and drapes beautifully, unlike cheaper tulle that often feels and looks stiff. The veils are hand cut and hand stitched onto a durable 8cm rhodium comb.
I use rhodium combs because they are tarnish-resistant, containing no nickel in the silver. Many veils in the market are attached to frail plastic combs that can break easily or feel flimsy.
I monitor emails daily, as I strive to offer each bride great service regarding veil inquiries.
Each veil is now presented in a box, accompanied by a luxe complimentary satin drawstring bag, making the unboxing experience special for each bride.
What does ‘made to order’ mean?
It means that your veil has been made just for you upon your request. We aim to have a more personal approach to the construction of your veil. Being handmade means, we do not hold large stock qty like many mass-produced retailers.
What type of lace do you use and what is the process to get a mantilla veil made?
I use high quality French lace as it is the real deal, and the quality is top tier. imported from our French lace supplier all the way in Italy. The lace is ordered per each veil, as to why I make them a minimum 6 months out from the wedding at the latest.
What most people don't realize is that real lace is actually quite expensive. So that is why there is a big price difference between a raw cut veil and one with French lace.
The lace is also very carefully stitched with a specific thread. If you are after a lace veil, email me with a few photos of lace you are wanting and I can work with you to find the most similar lace my supplier has in stock, I can also try catering to your price range.
Once you confirm the lace, I can then order it as soon as possible. As a rough guide a chapel mantilla veil uses about 8m of a 6cm wide Chantilly lace and prices start from about $425, the wider and more detailed the lace is, the more the veil will be. Please note I only do lace mantilla veils as this is the best style to showcase lace trim.
Why did you start velo?
A good friend of mine asked me to make her a couple of veils a few years ago and I adored the whole process. I learnt that veils are so much more than just a piece of tulle and it felt super special to make for a bride.
I noticed a gap in the market to make quality veils more affordable and but with more of a personalized couture-like approach.
I have a background in fashion design and have always wanted to start my own business, but I was waiting for something to feel right and timeless. I have noticed how much brides spend on veils and have seen people pay way too much for a veil that lacks in quality.
I wanted to make it more of an online but handcrafted approach and something I have been working on recently is making the unboxing experience special and unique. I also just have been obsessed with the whole process and I work on improving and working on velo every day. It is definitely my muse. Fun fact ‘velo’ means ‘veil’ in Italian but it is also ‘love’ rearranged.
